Volunteers Needed!

Heritage Skills Development Centre (HSDC) is currently looking for volunteer tutors for our After School Program for Kids . The position will involve helping kids in Grades 2 – 12 with homework assignments and learning activities on Monday through Friday from 4:30 pm through 6:30 pm

HSDC volunteers receive a letter of reference for employment, Canadian work experience, and many networking opportunities with agencies throughout the GTA . Please see the attached flyer for more details

Job Opportunities At Arts Etobicoke

PROGRAM COORDINATOR - Full-time

Purpose of the Position:
To support the aims and objectives of Arts Etobicoke through the development, coordination and production of its programs and to develop and coordinate the Volunteer Program, including policy development, recruitment and training.

Key Responsibilities:
o Coordination and production of annual Juried Art Show, annual Student Art Show, Art on the Move, Art Alley, Storefront Gallery exhibitions and receptions, Storefront art classes and other programs, as developed
o Administration of partnering programs, including This is My Neighbourhood, From 3 to 3, Exploring Creativity in Depth, urbanNOISE and the Presidents' Legacy Scholarship Fund.
o Assist in the development and coordination of new programs
o Assist in preparation of annual operating and project grant applications
o Participate in key Arts Etobicoke events
o Update website with programming details
o Events and outreach administration and coordination of volunteer support for these events.

Volunteer Program development and coordination:
o Identifying volunteer opportunities
o Writing position descriptions
o Developing and implementing a volunteer recruitment strategy
o Interviewing potential volunteers, matching interest and skills with positions
o Volunteer training, placement, and evaluation procedure development (i.e. volunteer manual) and implementation
o Coordination of volunteer support for events and outreach
o Annual review and updating of Board Member and Volunteer Manual
o Research trends in volunteering locally, provincially and nationally and apply findings to Arts Etobicoke's volunteer program strategies
o Attend training sessions and conferences, as required.

Requirements
The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years experience working in an arts administration environment and will demonstrate:

o A passion for working in community arts
o A talent for working collaboratively and independently in a results- oriented environment
o Excellent oral and written communication skills
o Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to work with Board and Staff Members, Program Partners, Donors, Suppliers, Contractors and a variety of Volunteers from varied backgrounds.
o Superior organizational skills and attention to detail - excellence in project coordination, project administration and event production is essential.
o Ability to multi-task, set priorities, work to tight deadlines, problem-solve and manage more than one project simultaneously.
o Proficiency in Word, Excel, e-mail and ability to work in an Apple/Mac environment. Familiarity with InDesign and databases an asset.
o Ability to write proposals, program evaluations and reports.
o Ability to create and monitor budgets, provide financial reports
o Ability to gather, report and interpret statistics
o Supervisory experience an asset.
o Multi-lingual proficiency is an asset
o Driver's Licence/Vehicle is an asset
o Adaptable to flexible work schedule including some weekends and evenings.

Education
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Volunteer/Arts Administration or equivalent in background and experience

Experience:
Minimum 3 years experience in arts administration/cultural organization/not-for profit environment.

Salary
Commensurate with experience, plus benefits



ART RENTAL & SALES CONSULTANT - Part time

Purpose of the Position:
To support the aims and objectives of Arts Etobicoke through the coordination and marketing of its Art Rental and Sales Program.

Key Responsibilities:
o securing new artists and clients for the Arts Etobicoke Art Rental and Sales Program
o marketing the Program, analyzing and adapting to market trends
o ongoing client/artist liaison
o organization of exhibitions, displays and networking opportunities
o general supervision of the administration of the Program
o Assist in preparation of annual operating and project grant applications
o Participate in key Arts Etobicoke events
o Update website with program details

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years experience working in a sales position and/or arts administration environment and will demonstrate:
o A passion for and extensive knowledge of visual arts
o Proven sales ability
o Excellent oral and written communication skills
o Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to work with Board and Staff Members, Artists, Clients, Donors, Contractors and a variety of Volunteers
o Superior organizational skills and attention to detail is essential
o Proficiency in Word, Excel, e-mail and ability to work in an Apple/Mac environment. Familiarity with InDesign and databases an asset
o Ability to draft and review legal agreements
o Ability to write PR and publicity materials
o Ability to create and monitor budgets, provide financial reports
o Ability to gather, report and interpret statistics
o Ability to supervise and/or execute client & gallery installations
o Driver's License/Vehicle is an asset

Education:
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Fine Arts/Arts Administration/Marketing/Business or equivalent in background and experience

Experience:
Minimum 3 years experience in sales&marketing/arts administration/cultural organization/not-for profit environment

Salary:

THE SELAM VISUAL ART FESTIVAL is an extension of
THE ANNUAL P2P SELAM YOUTH FESTIVAL: a youth arts festival which tackles HIV/AIDS awareness through art. Held in Toronto, this annual Festival is aimed at Educating & Empowering Youth through the Arts within our Communities about topics on HIV/AIDS awareness, education, and anti-stigmatization. Funding is provided by the AIDS Bureau.

This meeting will focus on the progression of the discussions that started in City Hall June 9th,09 at our last townhall with Hip Hop icon KRS ONE. It will also look into the connections between the discussion we had around violence, education, and culture, in order to build a community led Action Plan.

This is a Debrief with the community around our previous town hall and also what direction you want the dialogue to go in upcoming events, town hall, conferences etc. If you want to give input around the agenda, we will try our best to incorporate your ideas best as we can.
